PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP
Exceptional Learners 101
Hands-on workshop for teaching artists designed to put you in the seat of the exceptional learner. Come
away with a better understanding of how to adapt your work for students with a variety of impairments and
learning styles. This workshop will address multiple arts disciplines, including visual art, dance and
and movement, music and theatre. This workshop is co-presented by two experts in special education
and the arts. Presenter Laura Tunis is on the staff of the New Jersey Commission for the Blind, and is a
former teacher of special needs students. Presenter Amanda Newman-Godfrey was an art teacher for
exceptional learners for over ten years and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Arts Education for
Exceptional Learners from Columbia Teacher's College.
